Nutrition is a really important aspect to hair health so it was a pleasure to catch up with Registered Nutritionist @Lifes_recipe on instagram. There were lots of questions, and a great deal of interest in what can be done for scalp problems, shedding and brittle hair.
There has been a lot of interest in vitamin D recently due to the recent epidemic and it is important to remember that supplementation falls within national recommendation – as 90% is formed by the action of the sun on the skin, and in the UK climate we are unlikely to get enough vitamin D during the winter months.
Vitamin D deficiency has been associated with several hair loss conditions including telogen effluvium (hair shedding), alopecia areata (autoimmune) and female pattern hair loss. However further studies are needed.
