Pigmentation problems affect all skin types. In the lighter skin types, this is most often seen as freckles and age spots. For the darker skin types uneven pigmentation is a tell tale sign of ageing, and can be a consequence of skin conditions such as acne.
In all cases exposure to the sun will increase the effects. Changes in hormones, disease (e.g. acne) or injury can also contribute.
It is important to understand the cause so the process at this clinic starts with an online consultation. Your skin and facial aesthetic needs will be assessed so that you can be advised what can be done at home on your own ahead of your treatment.
This will enable you to understand the best skin preparation and at home practices to maximise the outcome of your treatment when you get it.
Unwanted pigmentation is tackled at this clinic using a combination of in-clinic treatments (peels) and at home preparations.
Which product ranges are used?
The product ranges available are suitable for the full range of skin types.
Often this involves having medical grade cosmeceutical products within your daily routine. Many of these products are practitioner dispensed only and not available on the High Street. At home treatments can be enhanced with tailored facial treatments (also known as chemical skin peels) in the clinic.
Cyspera, Zo Skin Health, Neostrata and Obagi ranges are used.
The range you will be advised on can be tailored to your needs and budget.
The clinic's approach
The process of dealing with pigment concern takes time and commitment. This clinic will go on a skin care journey with you, so it is important that you keep in regular contact.
After the first appointment you will be followed up at a fortnight, then 4 weeks later. This is to check how you are coping with the products and to help with any questions you may have.
Products can be sent to you from the clinic, but there is also the option to have your skincare programme managed by Get Harley who will create an online shop for you to buy your recommended products through.
Treatment will take several months and results may vary. At home programmes can be supplemented by peels in the clinic. If a rapid cosmetic result is needed, the clinic is able to provide a specialised skin camouflage service. You will always be advised to use a physical sunscreen. Results may vary and due to the nature of the condition there is always a risk of the pigment returning.

This exclusive range has protocols for mild and moderate pigmentation which have several ingredients in the range to tackle ageing too which includes retinols.
Once your skin has been adequately prepared, then in-clinic treatments such as the Zo Skin health Brightening Peel can be done.
NeoStrata Enlighten range
The Neostrata Enlighten range is a daily skin care regimen consisting of potent formulations that work together to promote bright, even skin tone.
Enlighten products are formulated with highly active brighteners. Butyl Resorcinol, Kojic Acid and Vitamin C to help reduce the appearance of existing pigmentation and discourage new spots from forming.
NeoGlucosamine works with brightening agents to increase exfoliation and fade the look of existing skin discolourations.
Once the skin has completed a programme of preparation it will be possible to have a NeoStrata Clinical Facial Peel.
The Brightening or Clarifying Peel may be used alone for those who are new to peels.
Obagi Nu Derm and Obagi-C Rx. Hydroquinone options for moderate to severe pigmentation.
The Obagi Nu Derm programme is a 24 week programme involving the use of prescribed 4% hydroquinone.
The Obagi C-Rx has both hydroquinone and vitamin C derived components.
Both systems come in normal/dry and normal/oily. The regime usually requires addition of a prescribed retinoid for the skin in the evening.
