The TrichoTest is the most complete genetic test for hair loss.
The TrichoTest is a genetic test which supports health care professionals in personalising treatment for hair loss. It combines the analyis of genetic variations, lifestyle factors and literature related to hair loss treatment. It suggests individualised treatment options through topical, oral or surgical solutions.
The recommendations are based on population studies analysing a total of 48 genetic variations.
A detailed consultation is completed along with an informed consent form.
The DNA sample is taken with a swab from inside the mouth.
Smoking, eating, alcohol, and drinking (water is the exception) should be avoided one hour before the sample is taken. You will be asked to rinse your mouth with water before the sample is taken.
The results are usually available 2 -4 weeks later.
The price of the test includes the face to face follow up appointment with the clinic doctor to discuss the results.
The recommendations may include prescribed or non prescribable treatments.
It does not analyse the less common forms of hair loss, so you may wish to have a trichology consultation first to help to decide whether this will be a helpful step for you. The test appears to be of most value to balding, telogen effluvium and of some help in alopecia areata.
Reasons to use this clinic for TrichoTest
TrichoTest is available at several locations across the UK. However this clinic believes that the person prescribing the medications and making the recommendations should be carrying out the consultation , assessment and follow up.
The report is long and detailed and often requires time to explain the implications of the recommendations. A follow up appointment within one month is included as well as between 6-12 months after the test to assess progress.
This clinic also one of a few in the country to offer the facility to have detailed high magnification analytical reports of the hair TrichoLab which includes the option of a second opinion with internationally recognised doctors specialising in non-surgical hair restoration.
How to take a TrichoTest DNA Sample
