Hair loss can impact anyone, and for women, it can be an incredibly worrying time, resulting in anxiety and frustration. Beating Hair Loss is the all-new Masterclass from Black Venus Beauty, designed to give women support and information on coping with hair loss. The event will form part of the upcoming Women’s History Month and will be held on Saturday 19th March 2022 on Zoom.
For Carole Guilmard, founder of Black Venus Beauty, hair loss is a topic that is extremely close to her heart. For the past 13 years, she has had to watch her sister face the heartbreak and frustration of living with alopecia, the medical term for hair loss, watching first-hand the upset and anxiety that it caused.
It took a long time for her sister to truly open up about how she was feeling, but once she did, Carole began to notice just how many of those beautiful women around her were experiencing some form of hair loss. She herself has recently experienced hair loss, so knows just how difficult it is for people to talk about, particularly amongst the Afro Caribbean community. That is why she decided to launch Black Venus Beauty.
This innovative brand has been created to provide women with high-quality, natural products designed for curly and afro hair alongside skincare and accessories. Utilizing the very best black-owned, UK and EU-based businesses, Black Venus Beauty also focuses on providing insight into various hair and skin-related topics from industry experts via its popular blog.
Now, the innovative brand is bringing that to life with its maiden Masterclass. The Beating Hair Loss conference will see Carole not only discussing her own incredible journey but also welcoming a host of keynote speakers who will be sharing their experiences. Included amongst the speakers on the day is GP and Trichologist Dr Ingrid Wilson. With personal experience in hair loss and the wide-reaching impact it has, she has taught, examined and consulted at the Trichologists’ Clinic in London alongside regularly writing articles and speaking at various events. She is also the founder and Director of Crewe Hair and Skin Clinic, which focuses on non-surgical solutions for hair loss. Dr Wilson will cover a temporary form of hair loss called Telogen Effluvium, as well as Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia, known as CCCA.
Joining Dr Wilson will be Dr Olayemi Bello, an experienced Dermatology Registrar with an interest in Traction Alopecia. With a keen interest in all thing’s hair, skin and beauty, Dr Bello will be sharing her years of experience in the field, alongside providing advice and support for those suffering hair loss. She has also run a number of educational hair events designed to educate women on traction alopecia and other hair loss conditions.
The final guest speaker will be the incredibly talented Gege Uboma. Gege is a natural hair expert, specialising in curly and afro hair. Having experienced, and recovered from temporary hair loss, she also has over 14 years of experience in hairstyling, confidence building and hair coaching. Gege will be discussing her passion for all aspects of hairstyling, design and care, as well as the best hairstyling practices to avoid hair loss.
This maiden event will form part of the Women’s History Month celebrations and will be sponsored by London-based haircare brand Derek Clement Haircare System. The event will take place on Saturday 19th March at the Castlefield Hotel in Manchester and is open to everyone, including members of the public and hair industry professionals.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Carole Guilmard, Founder of Black Venus Beauty, added, “I’m really excited for our inaugural Masterclass on Hair Loss. I have seen first-hand the devastating impact that hair loss has on an individual’s confidence, and our mission with this event is to help provide essential information and support, helping them to feel confident in their own skin and find ways to better manage their hair loss.”
