The approach - skin care and lifestyle first
During the consultation process you will be asked about lifestyle issues which can impact on the appearance of the skin around the eyes. Lack of sleep, chronic stress, diet and dehydration can all have an impact on the eye area.
The menu of specialist eye creams is constantly evolving. There are multiple specialist eye creams to choose from with different characteristics for various under eye concerns including puffiness, dryness, crepiness etc.
For example, the Neostrata Range for example has at least 4 at the time of writing, the Zo Skin Health range has 3. This clinic is able to advise and supply medical grade skin care for under the eye including from the Neostrata, ESK, Intradermology, Skin Better Science and Zo Skin Health ranges. The most recent addition is the Revision Skin Care portfolio which is unique in having a product for upper eyelid hoodingProducts can be supplied directly from the clinic and replenished through the Get Harley service. The process begins with an online consultation, where your recommendation will be uploaded to an online product shelf so that you can get the products sent to your home when you are ready.
How does the eye age?
The under eye area is often the first area to show signs of ageing, especially in skin of colour. Features of ageing include:
- Upper eyelid hooding
- Tear trough deepending/hollowing
- Skin thinning with visible lines around the eyes
- Puffiness around the eyes
- Drooping eyebrows
- Under eye bags
- Dark Circles
- Crow’s feet
The area can be challenging to treat and so requires long term commitment. Treating cosmetic concerns under the eyes can be challenging, so it is important to understand what the cause is. This clinic uses the approach taught by the renowned under eye specialist Dr Uche Uniagwu.
Clinic treatments for the eye area
Choosing a regenerative path means investing in the future health of your skin. While fillers provide an instant (but temporary) “fill,” regenerative treatments build a foundation of real, living tissue.
Polynucleotides
The eye is often the first place to show signs of ageing. Polynucleotides injections at a low concentration can be used around the delicate eye area.
The future of treating this area is Polynucleotides because of their effect on skin quality. There are various brands on the market which act similarly. They can be used for puffiness/bags under the eyes, wrinkles around the eyes. The treatments help to regenerate the skin in the are around the eyes, including the deeper tissues. More superficial wrinkles can be improved without the use of filler which simply add volume.
recisely administered into the delicate periorbital (eye) area, they send a direct signal to your skin cells to initiate a self-repair process. This biological “wake-up call” triggers the production of high-quality collagen and elastin, the building blocks of youthful skin.
Targeted Benefits
Plinest Eye is this clinic’s go to recommendation for patients looking to:
-
Refine Skin Texture: Smooth out “crepey” skin and fine lines.
-
Restore Firmness: Tighten the delicate skin of the upper and lower eyelids.
-
Boost Elasticity: Improve the skin’s “snap-back” and resilience.
The Power of “Priming”
One of the most unique features of Polynucleotides HPT® is their ability to prime the skin. By improving the quality of the underlying tissue, Plinest makes your skin more receptive and responsive to other anti-aging treatments.
When used as a foundation, it creates a powerful synergistic effect, enhancing the results of:
-
Energy-Based Devices: Laser and Radiofrequency.
-
Injectables: Dermal fillers and skin boosters.
-
Resurfacing: Chemical peels and microneedling.
-
Surgical Interventions: Pre- and post-operative support for blepharoplasty.
Clinical Insight: By optimizing the “skin bed” with Plinest first, we ensure that every subsequent treatment works harder and the results last longer.
Your Treatment Journey: What to Expect
To achieve the best possible regenerative results with Plinest Eye, we follow a clinically proven protocol designed to build your skin’s resilience over time.
The Typical Treatment Regime
While every patient is unique, the gold-standard protocol for Polynucleotides involves a “loading phase” followed by periodic maintenance:
-
The Initial Course: We recommend a series of 3 to 4 sessions.
-
The Interval: Treatments are spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart. This timing is crucial as it allows the polynucleotides to signal the fibroblasts and initiate the collagen-building cycle.
-
Maintenance: To preserve your refreshed appearance and continue the anti-aging benefits, a single “booster” session is recommended every 6 to 9 months.
Post-Treatment & Downtime
One of the greatest advantages of Plinest Eye is that it is a minimally invasive procedure with very little disruption to your daily life.
Immediate After-Effects
-
Localized Swelling (Papules): Because Plinest is a gel-based internal hydrator, you may notice small, bee-sting-like bumps (papules) at the injection sites. These are perfectly normal and typically settle within 24 to 48 hours as the product integrates into your tissue.
-
Mild Redness: The eye area may appear slightly flushed immediately after the session, which usually subsides by the time you reach home.
-
Potential Bruising: As with any injectable treatment around the delicate eye vessels, there is a small risk of minor bruising. This can easily be concealed with mineral makeup the following day.
Recovery Timeline
-
Day 1: Small bumps may be visible. We advise avoiding strenuous exercise, saunas, or heavy makeup for the first 24 hours.
-
Day 2–3: Any swelling or redness typically disappears. Your skin begins the internal repair process.
-
Week 2: You may begin to notice an improvement in skin hydration and “brightness.”
-
After Session 3: This is when the cumulative “wow” factor occurs—skin feels firmer, smoother, and more elastic.
Pro-Tip: If you have a major event, we recommend scheduling your Plinest Eye session at least 5 to 7 days in advance to ensure any minor bruising or initial swelling has completely resolved.
WOW fusion microneedling
While the delicate skin around the eyes is often the first to show signs of fatigue and aging, it is also the most challenging to treat. This clinic utilizes a specialized fusion of microneedling and mesotherapy to deliver a potent cocktail of active ingredients exactly where they are needed most.
This innovative tool uses 20 gold-plated, surgical-grade needles—each thinner than a human hair—to create painless micro-channels. This allows the infusion of a customized serum directly into the dermis, bypassing the skin barrier for maximum absorption.
“Eye-Bright” Formula
To tackle dark circles, fine lines, and “crepey” texture, we combine two powerhouse ingredients:
1. The Bright Complex
Designed specifically for hyperpigmentation and dullness, this complex works to:
-
Illuminate: Gently lighten dark circles caused by pigment.
-
Even Tone: Smooth out discolorations for a rested, “8-hours-of-sleep” appearance.
-
Protect: Neutralize free radicals that contribute to premature aging.
2. PDRN (Polydeoxyribonucleotide)
Often called “The Skin Healer,” PDRN is a DNA-derived injectable known for its incredible regenerative properties. When infused around the eyes, it:
-
Repairs at a Cellular Level: Speeds up tissue repair and stimulates collagen production.
-
Thickens the Skin: Strengthens the thin periorbital skin to reduce the appearance of blue/purple vessels underneath.
-
Deep Hydration: Provides a subtle “plumping” effect to soften crow’s feet and fine lines.
You may wish to have the bright complex alone or with PDRN
What to Expect
-
Treatment Time: Approximately 30–45 minutes.
-
Sensitivity: Very low. The ultra-fine needles are designed for comfort, even in the sensitive eye area.
-
Downtime: Minimal. You may experience slight redness for 12–24 hours, similar to a mild sunburn.
-
Results: While you’ll see an immediate “glow,” the true magic happens 7–14 days later as the PDRN begins to regenerate the skin from within.
The Verdict: This isn’t just a facial; it’s a precision-engineered treatment for those who want to look refreshed and revitalized without the need for invasive surgery or heavy fillers.
Can WOW fusion mesotherapy be combined with polynucleotides?
A treatment regime could be tailored to alternatie the WOW fusion treatments with the polynucleotide injections.
If you don’t want to have injections, and are looking for an option to help to reduce inflammation, you may wish to include the PDRN option with the bright complex
Dermaroller XCellaris Pro Twist automated microneedling
the Dermaroller XCellarisPro Twist is considered an excellent choice for wrinkles around the eyes.
Because the skin in this area is extremely thin (often compared to tissue paper), traditional manual rollers can be risky. The XCellarisPro Twist is an automated microneedling pen, which offers several technical advantages specifically for the delicate periorbital (eye) zone.
Why it works for eye wrinkles
-
Precision and Depth Control: The device allows practitioners to adjust needle depth (from 0.25mm to 2.5mm). For the eye area, the most shallow setting of -.25mm is used, which is deep enough to trigger collagen but shallow enough to remain safe.
-
Vertical Penetration: Unlike manual rollers that enter the skin at an angle (potentially causing “tearing” or “track marks”), the automated Twist needles enter and exit vertically. This minimizes trauma to the thin under-eye skin.
-
High Frequency: Operating at up to 150 times per second, it creates thousands of micro-channels per second. This “collagen induction therapy” forces the skin to thicken and repair itself, smoothing out fine lines and “crepey” texture.
-
Product Absorption: During the “Twist” procedure, a hyaluronic acid serum is typically applied. The device pushes this serum into the micro-channels, providing deep hydration that topical creams can’t reach.
This option may be suitable for you if you are interested in treating multiple areas at the same time as the needles used are guaranteed to be effective up to 90 minutes e.g. hair loss, facial concerns including acne scarring, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation.
LIGHT EYES
LIGHT EYES are targeted anti-ageing injections with potent mixtures of vitamins, peptides and antioxidants for the area around the eye.
It is used to help improve the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. It helps to reduce fine lines and helps to moisturise. It is better suited for people who haven’t lost volume under the eye
It is a helpful adjunct to other treatment. Results can vary from person to person.
The treatment ingredients are:
- vitamin C for a lightening effect
- Hyaluronic Acid (non crosslinked) to help to maintain moisture in the skin
- Papaya extract,
- Ruscoside to reduce vessel permeability (responsible for the pink/purple pigmentation)
- Blueberry extract, Chamomile which are antioxidants
- Argiriline which reduces muscle movement
Between 2- 4 treatments are needed in the initial loading phase.1 session should be done every 15 days. Maintenance can be done every 3 months.
1 week should be left between this treatment and other anti-wrinkle treatments around the eye.
Side effects can include swelling, redness, tenderness, slight headache, pain and or bruising after the treatment. These symptoms will usually pass in 1-2 weeks. In rare cases these symptoms last longer , and although injection treatment in most cases do not cause allergies or complications, there is no guarantee against this.
As some blebs will be present around the eyes immediately after treatment, it is recommended that you bring sunglasses with you to your appointment.
The treatment can be painful, so you may wish to request local anaesthetic beforehand.
Tear Trough Filler
The tear trough under the eye is one reason why some people can look tired because of the appearance of hollowing under the eyes. The reason can be genetics, descent of the fat pads in the cheeks, loss of volume in the cheeks, skin laxity and bone changes around the eye.
At our clinic, your safety and the long-term health of your skin are our highest priorities. While Tear Trough Fillers (Hyaluronic Acid) were once the go-to solution for under-eye hollows, we have evolved our practice to favor Regenerative Medicine.
In 2025 the decision was made to move away from traditional under-eye fillers in favour of safer, more natural, and more sustainable alternatives. Choosing a regenerative path means investing in the future health of your skin. While fillers provide an instant (but temporary) “fill,” regenerative treatments build a foundation of real, living tissue.
The Problem with Under-Eye Fillers
The skin around the eyes is the thinnest on the body and lacks a robust lymphatic drainage system. Traditional fillers in this area often lead to:
-
Chronic Puffiness: Fillers attract water, which can cause the eyes to look “heavy” or swollen, especially in the mornings.
-
The Tyndall Effect: A blueish, bruised tint caused by filler sitting too close to the surface.
-
Migration: Over time, filler can move, creating unnatural lumps or “shelves” under the eye.
-
Lymphatic Blockage: Fillers can sometimes obstruct natural drainage, leading to long-term malar bags (eye bags).
