Crewe Hair and Skin Clinic
Alopecia areata

One of the recommended treatments for alopecia areata is steroid injections. These are available from dermatologists or GPs with a special interest in dermatology.

This clinic does not offer steroid injections,  but is able to offer platelet rich plasma as an alternative in early cases of patchy alopecia areata as per the research paper Evaluation of platelet-rich plasma vs intralesional steroid in treatment of alopecia areata. by  Abalat and Ebrahim, published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology in 2019

There has also been a published case reports of improvement in ophiasis alopecia areata which is a severe form of alopecia areata where the hair loss is around the sides and back of the scalp, leaving a crown of hair on the top. The title of the paper by Dr Jeff Donovan is Successful treatment of corticosteroid-resistant ophiasis-type alopecia areata (AA) with platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
