Hair loss can be devastating regardless of age, gender or background. For black women, there is an issue of conditions being underdiagnosed, largely due to the limited training of health care professionals. A King’s Fund report from 2015 indicated that the majority of UK GPs get less than one week’s training in skin problems before they qualify. So there is even less training on hair loss conditions.
Raising awareness of the causes of hair loss is important, so that people can seek help at an early stage when there is more of a chance that something can be done about this.
It was an honour to write about some of the hair loss conditions that occur more commonly in black women for Melan Mag. If you would like to read more, please click on this link https://melanmag.com/2020/02/10/what-you-need-to-know-about-hair-loss-treatment-by-a-clinical-expert/
