The process begins with a remote consultation
You may be interested in using the clinic for injectable treatments such as Botulinum toxin (popularly known as Botox), Skin Boosters, Regenerative Aesthetic Treatments, or microneedling treatments, but may not be aware of what can be achieved through skin care. You may also be looking for permanent hair removal, blemish removal (including skin tags) or skin camouflage – but may be unaware of skincare that can help to enhance the results.
Before you are offered any treatments it is important that there is a good understanding of what your needs are, which is why your assessment begins online first.
The ethos here is of optimising skin health using medical grade skin care through tailored products to optimise the results of treatment. Daily home care can enhance in-clinic treatments such as skin peels can help to enhance the effects of injectable treatments. The list of available treatments available can be found on this link.
You will be advised on a basic skin care plan
This clinic offers a medically focused aesthetic approach for dealing with facial aesthetic concerns which complements what is available from GPs and NHS dermatologists. The focus is on optimising skin health with a ‘healthy skin prescription before starting aesthetic treatment.’
All skin types are welcome including skin of colour.
What skin issues can the skincare help with?
Concerns dealt with include acne, acne scarring, rosacea, pigmentation concerns, keratosis pilaris, lines, razor bumps, dry skin, wrinkles, blemishes, skin quality concerns and sagging skin. Recommendations can include home skin care only or include in-clinic treatments such as chemical skin peels, microneedling treatments and other regenerative treatments such as polynucloetids.
Which skincare brands are used?
The clinic partners with the Get Harley Team to supply the products below. You will be advised on what would be most suitable on you based your lifestyle, preferences and budgets. Results do take time as the issue will have built up over several years. It is important to take a lifetime approach to skincare and skin health.
What if I want to buy Zo Skin Health products?
Zo Skin Health is a premium medical grade skin care brand. It is not sold online and products should only be obtained through approved retailers. The sale of the products follows a detailed in person assessment.
Consequently the Zo Skin Health brand is not available through the Get Harley route. The Hydropeptide brand has several similarities to Zo Skin health and is offered as an alternative for women who are actively planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding.
I know the treatment I want. Why do I need a consultation?
A consultation is required before booking any treatments to ensure that you are correctly triaged into the correct treatment route. Your practitioner has invested time in learning about the different treatment approaches. A series of treatments is usually needed to get results and different packages are available. The consultation process helps you to find the most appropriate route which is chosen based on your lifestyle, preferences, cosmetic practices and health issues.
We won’t know how long it will take to address your skin care or aesthetics concerns, but hopefully you will be able to listen to the advice and hopefully act on it. The advice is based on tried and tested products with scientific evidence behind them.
If the remote assessment indicates that you are likely to be suitable for an in-clinic treatment you will be invited to book an appointment for an in-clinic skin analysis during which the relevant procedures will be discussed with you, and you may be able to sample some selected products. Alternatively you may wish to book in directly for a treatment.
The initial face to face consultation - How to prepare
- Please arrive make up free for the initial consultation if you can to ensure that your skin can be assessed accurately.
- Please ensure that your skin is free of any tinted moisturiser, make up or fake tan if you can.
- Please bring all of your skin care products with you, or please ensure that a photograph of your products is included in your questionnaire response. Products of interest include cleansers, moisturisers, tanning products, serums or sunscreen.
Digital Skin Analysis
This clinic uses the Obagi method of skin assessment as well as magnification and illumination at the clinic appointment.
Observ 520 skin analysis technology images are used as a baseline. This helps you to understand your skin profile by seeing the various characteristics in the various layers of their skin. Many skin conditions start in the deeper levels of the skin and can be difficult to see with the human eye.
The images are most accurate when you are free of make up or tinted moisturisers.
These images can be sent to you if you wish and can be repeated as your treatment plan with the clinic progresses. Please ask.
Product selection
It is extremely important that you are happy with the products you select. Where sample sizes are available you will have the opportunity to try the product before you buy. Unfortunately there are no refunds on products purchased unless the product is faulty.
After the initial consultation - buying skin care
The clinic carried limited stock because of the wide range of options available. Skincare products can be purchased as follows:
- Your personalised recommendation on the Get Harley Portal which will send products directly to your home.
- From the clinic online shop (this can be collected from the clinic to avoid postal charges)
- Zo Skin Health products can be purchased through the password protected page
- The Clever Patient Portal which will be for your Obagi Products
There is significant variation in the price range of different brands, so this clinic can support you in changing brands to address your concern as budget allows.
After the consultation
After the initial consultation you are advised to check in if you have any questions or concerns. The reason why some of these productss are not available on the High Street is because they can lead to anticipated reactions which you can be advised on.
The Get Harley Team is here to support you. You can book in for further remote follow ups virtually through the platform as you need to.
The frequency of follow up depends on which route you take. Some skincare plans will involve having severe reactions such as itching, burning or peeling of the face. You are encouraged to phone or message the Get Harley Team if you would like support (except if you are using Hydropeptide or Zo Skin Health products).
Good to know
It is really important to know that for skin issues the results can take many months because you are addressing issues that would have taken many years to develop.
For some of the skin concerns the problem is likely to look worse before it looks better and your skin may react particularly when using Zo Skin Health problems. Please don’t abandon the programme as this is actually a sign that your skin issue is being addressed. You are encouraged to check in with the clinic if you have any concerns so that you do not miss out on the opportunity to benefit from the range of alternative options available.
