The current landscape
As hair transplants are becoming more common, some hair transplant clinics recommend a course of Platelet Rich Plasma treatment after surgery.
There is no consensus in the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery about this at the moment, and some BAHRS members will recommend this procedure. Other’s won’t.
In the same way a garden needs good soil for plants to grow, the hair, scalp and general health need to be optimised before the hair transplant – ideally starting a year before. This includes topical or oral medications and procedures including Regenera, which can help to improve the results.

A diagnostic hair loss consultation is required before all treatments.
This is because there are some forms of hair loss that look like common balding which are not e.g. diffuse alopecia areata, Fibrosing Alopecia in a Pattern Distribution and Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia, which can actually be made worse by a hair transplant particularly if the disease is in an active phase.

The cost of the consultation process is offset by the value overall with feeling more confident that you have been comprehensively assessed.
