Some research from the US was recently published which brought up some issues of potential concern for black women using hair dyes and straighteners.. However, having read the original article in more detail, it is clear that more well conducted studies are needed. For the time being, cosmetic products in the UK are EU regulated, and the EU has a history of banning many more products for safety reasons than the equivalent body in the US, the Food and Drugs Administration.
